Smile, you’ve entered the best dental site to answer your common and not so common tooth related questions.
We are Hygienists and Sisters who have practiced dentistry for over 26 combined years. We have seen quite a few teeth, heard a lot of stories, and thought we could put some of our knowledge, insight, humour (yes- there is laughter in the dental office) onto a website/blog. We would like to dispell myths, answer questions, and give patients an insider’s eye into the reasons your Dentist really wants to treat your dental needs. So please check back often, feel free to leave comments, and ask us what you want to know about Dentistry.

My grandson was battered up to day, a kids just walked up tp him and punched him in the mouth knocking out his front tooth and loosing the other tooth next to it, we too him to an emergency dentist, he did a root canal and cemented the real tooth back. He said he is too young to get an inplant, he would need to wait until he is 18 and he is only 12. id there any other options
Right now that sounds like it was the best course of action. The dentist is right that he is too young for an implant. The jaw is still growing and you would need to wait until that has finished to get an implant.
Boys can continue to grow until their early 20’s so you definitely want to keep him under the care of a dentist.
Hopefully, the tooth that was knocked out will reattach. If it wasn’t out too long it’s possible that it could. Just keep an eye on them and watch out for any pimple-like areas above the tooth under the lip. That would mean it’s abscessed.
An implant is the best option but you could also replace the missing tooth with a bridge or flipper(miniature partial). If the tooth doesn’t reattach, your dentist could also cut off the root and bond the crown to the adjacent teeth. That would hold him over until he can get a more permanent solution.
Hope that helps.
Good luck and shame on those boys!

Over the past few weeks I had a small bump on the inside of my left mouth. It was on the gum next to a crowed tooth. I thought it would go away, but recently when I was eating the crown of that tooth broke loose. I actually don’t know where the crown went!
The sore has healed, but I now have the stub of my tooth without a crown. I cannot get dental insurance through my work until December. My teeth have always been health except for a couple of cracked teeth a two or three cavities. Can I wait to have this re-crowned until I have insurance?
